What started as a 20-year hobby raising mason bees, grew into a business in 2008. And yes, we started in the garage. Today, our still-small company has a dedicated team of like-minded staff, mentors, advisors and dedicated volunteers.
One thing that has not changed, however, is the vision to “keep food on the table” with alternative bees to supplement the troubled honey bee pollinators. Our focus is the solitary, gentle bee which is easy to raise and outstanding at pollination. The spring mason bee remains our central pollinator and will always be at the core of our business as an amazing bee. Meanwhile, we’ve added two great summer pollinators, the leafcutter and eastern states bumble bee, to help our garden customers with their seasonal needs.
